Web Design + Function + Searchability

Our Thoughts on Web Design

This is the million dollar answer to the question, “What makes you different from other web designers?”

Well, besides Joshua’s dashing good looks (the hat)?

We see web design as a much broader task than making a glorified business card online. I’ve spent a lot of time thinking, researching, reading (still reading) about other opinions and I’m working on the theory. As it stands for now, I look at designing a website as a conflict between design, functionality, and searchability. The goal of a web designer should be that of making a harmonious relationships among these three. To help me better illustrate my point I will use the example of a 3 point triangle.

Web Design | Basics

The closer you get to one edge the further you get away from the other two.

Unfortunately, the more complex the site is, the distance between these points grows by the same rate the complexity of the site. Yet there is hope. If the yellow was the resources allocated to the project you could always put more resources into your site construction. Then you’ll get something like this:

Web Design | More Resources

In this example, we’re using three times the resources. This analogy is relevant because it takes a lot more resources to get the full desired effect. Now, what if you took the same amount of resources and used them a little more intentionally? Intentionality is the key to achieving a harmonious relationship among the three points. You must develop a website that brings all three of the aforementioned elements together in its creation. We believe in hiring a web designer that can maximize your resources to deliver a website that is searchable, functional, and with good design. Then, your site should look like:

Website Design | Optimized

We believe you can achieve all three with the right team in place.
